Marilyn Manson news for 2004

Most recent entries are shown first:

Spooky Kids songs

See a Rolling Stone article about ten Spooky Kids era songs and some video footage being released next week as 'Lunch Boxes and Choklit Cows'.

Formerly on demo tapes, Scott Putesky (Daisy Berkowitz) won ownership of the original recordings after a court battle with Manson ending in 1998. He apparently has another album's worth ready for release too.

John5's website

Yes, John-5.com is back online, still a work in progress and no forum like before so far. Well he doesn't want any Manson-bashing and that would be almost guaranteed to happen just now. Edit: forum back as of 11? April.

Dita's sparkler

On Dita Net, a new photo, and what Dita von Teese has to say about it, lets us know that she and Manson are now engaged. She also comments, "It's a seven carat European cut vintage diamond, I cherish it almost as much as the man who gave it to me!"

In the photo, she wears the ring and a wistful gaze.

News from Marilyn Manson's official website

You get nothing for ages then it all arrives at once, like a logjam bursting free. Let's look at the latest news from MM's officially official website:

Marilyn Manson The Greatest

Marilyn Manson is currently in the studio recording new material, some of which will appear on a "best of collection" that will be released this fall. Besides all of their classics, the album will feature the new single, a cover of Depeche Mode's "Personal Jesus." In addition to a booklet of rare photos and artwork by Marilyn Manson, the entire video catalog will be included for the first time ever on DVD, featuring the never-before-seen, uncensored cut of "(s)AINT" directed by Asia Argento. The band has decided to part ways with guitarist John 5 as recording sessions for the next album begin.

Manson has spoken...Read his new Journal entry and see photos from the studio: NO SALVATION, NO FORGIVENESS

[posted 3/30/2004 U.S.A.]

So, to summarize:

  • John5 has left the band :'(
  • MM are recording a new album
  • We're ALSO getting a 'best of' collection
The best of collection should include:
  • a cover of Depeche Mode's "Personal Jesus".
  • a booklet of rare photos and artwork by MM
  • all MM videos - including (s)AINT - on DVD

So it's mostly good news. Can't say I'm completely surprised that John has gone. He'll be missed from MM but let's all look forward to his work elsewhere.

Here's a copy of the Journal entry mentioned in the news post NO SALVATION, NO FORGIVENESS

There's no replacement for John yet, but Tim Skold has taken over studio guitar duties for now.

Q Magazine article

In the April 2004 edition of Q Magazine (out now) Manson answers questions sent in by readers as part of the mag's monthly 'Cash For Questions' feature.

i-D Magazine Interview by JT Leroy

In the March 2004 issue of fashion magazine i-D, Manson is interviewed by JT Leroy. JT is the author of novel 'The Heart Is Deceitful Above All Things', the film adaptation of which Manson has an important part in. I got this info from [p]logical's currently defunct news site but I never kept the link to where you could read it.

I think it was here: Ode To Azia, an Asia Argento fansite.
